As I was watering this afternoon my attention was diverted by this wonderful red creature. It stayed around for quite awhile. It liked the top of this tomato stake and the top of my tomato cages. Maybe its color is to encourage all of those green tomatoes to turn red!
I am not really sure what type of dragonfly it is. I tried various methods of identification but am still not completely sure. I think it might be a neon skimmer. I am in Southern California and found one other picture taken of a red dragonfly and it said it was taken at the Huntington Gardens but did not identify it by name.
