Mixed Berry Jam

My first attempt at making jam!
The strawberries at the farmers’ market are a great price right now and Whole Foods had a one day special on organic blueberries. Because I wanted to make a very mixed fruit jam, I decided to buy some raspberries and blackberries as well.

Lobster tails were sale at Whole Foods so I made a dish I had for the first time back in January. I followed the directions (mostly as I used only lobster tail) from Epicurious.

Garden Chores

20110617-063223.jpg

Thursday was a great day in the garden! I feel like I got so much done. Here is a quick list:
•cleared a bed of the last of the kale and added amendments
•planted butternut squash in aforementioned bed
•planted more cilantro seeds as they quickly bolt this time of year
•planted pole beans (Franchi seeds, the best)
•planted additional cucumber seeds as I love cucumbers and want to keep them coming
•planted sunflowers in a bed on the north side of the yard
•weeded! all of the bricks between beds are now weed free and so are most of the backyard beds (side yard another day)

The boys who visit regularly planted pumpkin seeds on June 7th and they are up. 20110617-064209.jpg

And project sweet potato is coming along.

Sunday Night Dinner

20110612-085004.jpg

Fajitas with both chicken and beef along with red bell peppers and onions all cooked on the grill. Chop some tomatoes, grate some cheese, tear up some lettuce, warm the tortillas, and pull out the salsas from the fridge and you have a yummy dinner.

Leftover meats will make a great taco salad!

Italian this time

More sausage making around here. This time I made spicy turkey italian sausages but on my first attempt I think I added way tooo much red pepper. So I added more meat to counter the excess heat. Anyway, now the freezer is full of sausage.
